Nigerians have been guaranteed the generation, transmission and distribution of an average of Five-thousand mega watts of electricity daily from July First, 2022.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission Mr. Sanusi Garba,, during a media briefing in Lagos on Wednesday.
According to him, this follows renewed efforts by industry stakeholders, adding that, the commission had facilitated a contractual agreement between the Generation companies, Transmission companies of Nigeria and the 11 Distribution companies that would guarantee the generation, transmission and distribution of an average of Five-Thousand mega watts of electricity daily to customers effective July First.
He said, the contract is binding on all the players across the sector’s value chain and stipulates penalties for any party that defaults on the arrangement under the new regime.
Garba commended the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria for the interventions in the power sector, adding that country would soon start feeling the impact of the investments positively.
